pureMix is the world’s preeminent musical engineering educational site, giving its members exclusive access to behind-the-scenes video tutorials from an incredible stable of Grammy-winning engineers including Fab Dupont (Queen Latifah, Jennifer Lopez, Mark Ronson), Andrew Scheps (Beyonce, U2, Lana Del Ray), Al Schmitt (Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, Ray Charles), and Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse), to name just a few.

02 The Challenge

The pureMix team wanted to optimize their Facebook ad campaigns and increase paid memberships, but didn’t have the internal capacity to do so. They also needed another pair of marketing eyes on their business to identify their core audiences and develop new (and refine existing) strategies.

03 Strategy & solution

After a discovery process, we created a Framework for pureMix, identifying their competitors, detailing their industry, primary audiences, marketing opportunities, marketing strategies, and ad performance.

We helped them to restructure their subscription model and developed a digital advertising plan that simultaneously increased social media engagement, website traffic, and maximized sales with an efficient media spend using Facebook, Google, YouTube, and Reddit.

Then, we managed all of that alongside their team on a weekly basis, with great communication, through meetings and reporting.

04 The Outcome

Over the next two years, paid membership increased by 300%, from 2,600 pro members at the start to 7,695 as of this writing. Revenue also increased by 60% from $1 million annually to $1.6 million for the last fiscal year.

During our partnership pureMix also successfully launched several sister businesses focused on software plugins and music collaboration.
